You may take the GMAT exam multiple times, but there are limits on how frequently you can test.
These policies apply to all GMAT exams, including both test center and online appointments.
How Soon Can I Retake the GMAT?
You must wait at least 16 calendar days between GMAT appointments.
This waiting period applies regardless of:
- whether you tested online or at a test center
- whether you completed the exam
- whether your score was canceled
Example:
- If you take the GMAT on June 1, the earliest date you can test again is June 17.
How Many Times Can I Take the GMAT?
You may take the GMAT exam up to 5 times within a rolling 12-month period.
This limit includes:
- online and test center exams combined
- exams with canceled scores
Appointments that are canceled before the exam or missed appointments do not count toward this limit.
Do Online and Test Center Exams Count Separately?
No. Online and test center appointments are combined for retake and attempt limits.
Example:
- 2 online exams and 3 test center exams within 12 months would count as 5 total attempts.
Can GMAC Make Exceptions to the Retake Policy?
Retake policy exceptions are granted only in limited circumstances.
If you believe a policy exception should be reviewed, contact GMAC Customer Care and include:
- your full name
- your mba.com email address
- your appointment history
- the reason for your request
Submitting a request does not guarantee approval.
