Technical issues can sometimes occur during a GMAT exam appointment. What happens next depends on:
- Whether you are testing online or at a test center
- Whether the issue happens before or after your exam begins
- Whether the issue can be resolved during your appointment
Technical issues are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Resolution options, including eligibility for a no-cost retake, depend on the specific circumstances of the exam session and whether the issue could be resolved during the appointment.
If You Experience a Technical Issue Before Starting Your Exam
GMAT Online Exam
If you are unable to start your exam due to a technical issue, notify your proctor immediately using the chat or audio features available in the exam session.
The proctor will attempt to help resolve the issue. If the issue cannot be resolved within a reasonable amount of time, your appointment may be canceled.
Before an online exam appointment, candidates are responsible for confirming that their computer, internet connection, and testing environment meet all published system and testing requirements.
If the issue cannot be resolved, eligibility for a no-cost retake will depend on the details of the case.
GMAT Test Center Exam
If you experience a technical issue before starting your exam at the test center, notify the test center staff immediately.
The test center staff will attempt to resolve the issue. If the issue cannot be resolved, your appointment may be canceled.
Depending on the circumstances, you may be eligible to test again at no additional cost.

Important Notes About Technical Issues
For online exams, candidates are responsible for ensuring their computer, internet connection, and testing environment meet the published system and testing requirements before the appointment.
