How Many Times Can I Take a Practice Exam or Assessment?
Free Practice Exams and Assessments
The free GMAT Practice Exams may be taken multiple times.
However, after the first two attempts, you are increasingly likely to encounter questions you have already seen. Because question exposure may influence performance, scores from repeated attempts may no longer provide the same level of score validity as earlier attempts.
Paid Practice Exams and Assessments
Paid GMAT Practice Exams include two attempts per exam.
Paid EA Practice Assessments include one attempt per assessment.
- Additional attempts may be available by repurchasing eligible products.
Resetting GMAT Practice Exams / EA Practice Assessments
Some GMAT Practice Exam products include a reset option that allows you to retake exams for additional practice. The free practice exams can be taken multiple times, but cannot be reset mid-use
Before Resetting Your Practice Exams
Before resetting your exams, it is important to understand the following:
You Will See Mostly Duplicate Questions
Practice Exams / Assessments use a fixed pool of questions.
After resetting, many of the questions you encounter will be questions you have already seen.
Your Score May Be Higher
Repeated exposure to questions can improve performance through familiarity.
As a result, retake scores may not reflect the same testing conditions as a first attempt.
You Will Lose Access to Previous Responses
Resetting permanently removes your prior responses and question-level performance data for that exam attempt.
Your Previous Scores Will Remain Available
Score summaries from completed exams remain available after a reset and can still be used to track your progress over time.
Repurchasing Practice Exams
Repurchasing the same Practice Exam / Assessment product does not provide new questions.
However, repurchasing provides additional attempts, including a new exam attempt and an additional reset opportunity for the purchased exam set.
Because the question pool remains the same, you may still encounter duplicate questions.
Adding Extended Time Accommodations to Practice Products
If you have been approved for accommodations that include additional testing time, you can activate extended time on the prep platform using the accommodation activation code included in your accommodations decision email.
- Go to mba.com/my-account.
- Sign in using the same email address associated with your prep products.
- Under Purchased Products, select:
- Access GMAT Official Prep for GMAT products, or
- Access Purchased Executive Assessment Prep for Executive Assessment products.
- Click Redeem Activation Code in the upper-right corner of the page.
- Copy the accommodations code from your accommodations decision email.
- Paste the code into the activation field.
- Click Continue.
Once activated, the approved extended time accommodation will be applied to your practice products. Extra time cannot be applied to a practice exam / assessment that is already in progress.
Important: Accommodation codes are specific to the approved accommodation level (for example, 50% or 100% additional time). Once an accommodation code has been applied, the extended time setting cannot be removed.
