Overview
GMAT and EA Practice Question products include a variety of study tools designed to help you build customized study sessions, review your performance, and focus on areas that need improvement.
Depending on the product you are using, you may be able to:
- Create custom practice sessions
- Filter questions by topic or difficulty
- Practice in Study Mode or Exam Mode
- Search for questions
- Review answer explanations
- Track your progress
- Pause and resume practice sessions
- Reset questions and start over
Available features may vary by product.
Creating Practice Sessions
Practice Question and Question Bank products allow you to create customized practice sessions based on your study goals.
When creating a session, you will be able to customize:
- Study Mode or Exam Mode
- Number of questions
- Difficulty level
- Content areas and subcategories
- Previously answered incorrect questions
You can create as many practice sessions as needed.
Study Mode and Exam Mode
Practice Questions and Question Banks offer multiple ways to practice.
Study Mode
Study Mode provides immediate feedback after each question, including:
- Whether your answer was correct
- Detailed answer explanations and rationales
This mode is designed to help you learn concepts while you practice.
Exam Mode
Exam Mode simulates a more realistic testing experience.
Feedback and answer explanations are displayed after the session is completed.
This mode can help you practice pacing and test-taking strategies.
Question Search
The Prep platform includes a Question Search feature that allows you to quickly locate specific questions and build targeted practice sessions.
You can search by:
- Keywords or phrases from question text
- GMAT Official Guide Question IDs*
Question Search can help you:
- Revisit previously studied questions
- Build custom practice sets
- Focus on specific topics
- Study with tutors or study groups using shared question references

Reviewing Questions and Answer Explanations
Practice Question products include detailed answer explanations.
Answer explanations can help you:
- Understand why an answer is correct
- Learn from incorrect responses
- Identify areas requiring additional study
You can also review previously completed questions to better understand your performance and study patterns.
Practicing Questions You Previously Missed
Many products allow you to create practice sessions using questions you previously answered incorrectly.
This can help you:
- Focus on weaker content areas
- Reinforce concepts that need additional review
- Track improvement over time
To practice previously missed questions, navigate to your reports or performance dashboard and select the option to review incorrect questions, where available.
Tracking Progress and Performance
The prep platform includes a reporting tool that allow you to:
- Track progress over time
- Review performance by content area
- Identify strengths and focus areas
- Review previously completed practice sessions
Some products also provide dashboard widgets and visual reports that help you monitor improvement across multiple study sessions.
Pausing and Resuming Practice Sessions
You may pause a practice session and return later to continue where you left off.
Incomplete sessions can typically be resumed from the dashboard.
Resetting Questions
Some Practice Question products allow you to reset your progress and start over.
Resetting questions may remove previously recorded responses and performance data associated with those questions.
If available, the Reset Questions option can be useful after you have completed all available questions or want to begin a fresh round of practice.
